The new MULTIFUNCTION I/O is the very latest addition to the continually expanding range of communication interface products produced by Riello UPS, the interface works in conjunction with the latest range of Dialog Plus S and ER models, the new interface converts the low capacity isolator signals into high capacity true volt-free relay contacts, the relay contacts allow the user to switch up to 8A at 250V, with all of the relay terminations being made via removable terminal connectors, thus enabling easy connection without the need for any additional specialised connectors.
Using the jumpers provided on the PCB, it is possible to link the required alarm signal to the relevant relay contact, therefore if required; it is possible to have all 3 relay contacts operating for the same alarm signal.
The alarm contacts available are: -
Battery Working (BW) - Also known as mains supply failure
Battery Low (BL) - Also know as low battery pre-alarm
Fault/Bypass - Also know as UPS Fault or failure
The MULTIFUNCTION I/O is totally supported via the UPS serial port, with no additional power connections necessary to be made to the protected output sockets of the UPS, in conjunction with the volt-free contact terminals, the MULTIFUCTION I/O enables the user to maintain full connection and operation of the RS-232 communications port via the repeater circuit and on board D9 connection point.
The MULTIFUNCTION I/O also enables the user to remotely activate or de-activate the UPS via a set of contacts, these contacts can be integrated into a building management or monitoring system for power up or power down control of the UPS ( this function is configurable via the UPStools configuration program on UPS with fw version)Jason Yates
